Sports Teams Overview In addition to IHM's excellent physical education program, which teaches basic and advanced skills in a wide variety of sports, IHM students have the opportunity to join extracurricular sports teams. Each sport at IHM is open to both boys and girls. Most teams are co-ed. The exception is basketball, which fields separate boys' and girls' varsity and junior varsity teams. Mascot: Eagle
Philosophy At IHM, it really is all about how you play the game. Winning is not the sole emphasis. Instead, the focus is on learning the intricacies of a sport while applying Christian values and good sportsmanship. Teams at IHM are coached by volunteer parents, teachers and parish members dedicated to their sports and to the goal of helping create good sports. Games Students compete with other Catholic and private schools in the area. Game schedules are published here each season. Eligibility Students must maintain a C (2.0) grade point average with no failing grades to be eligible to participate in athletics. More information about student and parent requirements for participation in sports can be found in the Athletic Handbook, which can be downloaded in .pdf format by clicking here. Every student athlete must have a Sports Medical Form on file before practice begins. The form, also in .pdf format, can be downloaded by clicking here. Booster Club The purpose of the Booster Club is to promote, encourage and support interest and participation in IHM's athletic program and provide members with a wholesome atmosphere of fellowship through athletics. The Booster Club conducts an annual membership drive and oversees concession sales, game day raffles and other fundraisers. Proceeds are used to pay student participation fees and to purchase equipment for the athletic department. |
